Statement of Faith 2025
We believe that God our Creator is
Omnipotent and omnipresent
Intricate and meticulous
Interconnected and harmonious
The sculptor of unique beauty
Inspired and humorous
Our provider and healer
Perfect, caring, and fun.
We believe that God our Redeemer is
Graceful, embracing, and non-judgmental
Accepting and understanding
Comforting, teaching, and forgiving
Our model, guide, and helper
Our safety and our friend
Our shepherd who offers us peace
and leads us home.
We believe that God our Sustainer
abides with and within us in every situation
Connecting us with one another
Flowing through our loving actions
into the hearts of those around us.
Because we believe this,
we seek Divine Justice together -
restoring order between our faith
and God’s creation
as we share our abundance and
seek to be fully present;
Doing no harm and helping where we can,
Engaging and caring for the
natural world around us
and living in the moment.
We work to live in relationship with God
and one another -
Listening without judgment
and offering love, grace and forgiveness
As we ourselves remain humble and vulnerable,
offering and receiving help
out of gratitude to God.
We are called to be the hands and feet of God,
sustaining God’s creation
through relationships built
on empathy and compassion,
kindness fueled by curiosity and delight,
listening ears, honest words, and forgiving actions
as we work to fill in our cultural blind spots
by putting God’s love and our faith into action.
We are thinkers and doers,
a community rich with tradition
yet embracing and celebrating
authenticity and diversity.
We believe that we are enough,
yet long to offer more -
so together, as the Body of Christ,
we seek to reconcile our faith with our actions,
establishing Divine Justice for the fruition
of the kin-dom of God.
We embrace the sacred moments of sabbath,
slowing down so we can catch up.
We listen with wonder and curiosity,
assuming positive intent.
We show up, we visit, we lean in,
and we make ourselves vulnerable
as we care for others who are also vulnerable
with patience, courage, grace, and empathy
for ourselves as much as for others
and for the whole of God’s creation.
“This statement of faith is a compilation of the responses offered during our sermon series, “Seeking Divine Justice” as well as reflections by our Session. Much like our own capacities as human beings, it is limited - yet it is more than enough. Having named and claimed what we believe as the Body of Christ growing together in the woods at Saint Giles, may we go out into the world, reconciling our actions with our faith, and establishing a renewed experience of divine justice throughout creation.”
