Announcements from the bulletin on Sunday, November 10:
Quail Ridge Books Presentation
Next Sunday the 17th, following our morning service, we will be privileged to have a representative from Quail Ridge Books meet with us in Fellowship Hall to provide information on several books in each of four categories: religious themes, environment and climate change, new & old fiction and children's' books. Sandwiches, along with our regular coffee hour selections will be provided. This event is designed to appeal to all age groups in our church and is an opportunity to order books as gifts for the holiday seasons. Orders can be made at this event with pick-up and payment made at the book store. You are invited to come and bring a friend or family member.
Contemporary Topics Class— NEXT WEEK, November 17 : Are you a giver or a taker? By Adam Grant. In every workplace, there are three basic kinds of people: givers, takers and matchers. Organizational psychologist Adam Grant breaks down these personalities and offers simple strategies to promote a culture of generosity and keep self-serving employees from taking more than their share.
We are off to a good start with our 2020 financial stewardship campaign. Many thanks to you those who have returned your Estimates of Giving. We appreciate those many wonderful gifts. If, however, you have not returned your Estimate of Giving card, please consider doing so at your earliest convenience. Your Estimate of Giving provides St. Giles with the information necessary to wisely apply the church's resources to our many and varied missions and helps the Session plan for 2020. Please place them in the offering plate or mail them to or drop them off at the Church office. Thank you.
Habitat for Humanity Presbyterian Build
Saint Giles to help build six new homes in Habitat for Humanity's Faith Build! We're helping Habitat for Humanity of Wake County go bigger this year by building a 6-unit townhome. An ambitious project that includes our donation of funds, builders, and food, we will partner with Habitat and other congregations to complete a home for six families in just 16 weeks! We're asked to provide six workers on four building days and to provide lunch for teams of 20 builders on one of those days. Saint Giles is building on two more Saturdays, so save them on your calendar: 11/23, and 12/14. Please contact Tom Augspurger to volunteer for building or feeding the builders (or just to learn more).
Away Dates for Katherine
Katherine will be out of the office beginning following worship today, and will return to the office on November 18th. For pastoral care concerns or emergencies, please contact the Church Office.
Saint Giles Book Group
The St. Giles Book Group will meet on Tuesday, November 19 at 11:30 in the Adult Center to discuss Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. Continuing our reading about South Africa, this is Trevor's story of growing up as a racially mixed child in South Africa. Leslie will lead our discussion.
