All Church Event Sponsored by Senior Adult Ministry
Today following the morning service, Linda Robinson, an elementary school teacher and Adjunct Professor of Education at N.C. State, will make a presentation on the life and lasting influence of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a legendary anti-Nazi German pastor who sacrificed his life for his faith during World War II. We invite you to come to the Fellowship Hall and listen to an informative talk about an inspiring man of faith.
Annual Meeting of the Congregation and Corporation
Session has called the Annual Meeting of the Congregation and Corporation for January 26, 2020, following 10:30am worship. The purpose of this meeting is to review/receive the annual report, elect the 2020 Congregational Nominating Committee, approve possible changes to the pastor's terms of call, and other actions appropriate to an Annual Meeting. The Moderator should be informed of additional business prior to the meeting. Hard copies are available in the narthex and email copies were sent out on January 10th. Please contact the office if you did not receive a report.
Annual Chili Luncheon
It is time for the Annual Chili Luncheon Youth Fundraiser, benefiting the youth ministry program here at Saint Giles. Join us in the Fellowship Hall after the congregational meeting on January 26th. Bring your best chili to share! Please make a crock-pot/pressure cooker/pot of your best chili and bring it with you Sunday morning. We will provide the rest. Drop off of chili will start at 9:15am until 10:25am, in the Fellowship Hall kitchen. If you do not wish to cook, come and bring your taste buds, your appetite, and a donation… and support our Youth Ministry with this delicious event that is sure to warm you up on a cold January morning! The proceeds will go towards the cost of attending our youth’s summer conferences, Massanetta Springs and Montreat. Last year we had 10 of our youth attend! Ask a youth about what these summer conferences mean to them.
Saint Giles Book Group
The Saint Giles Book Group will meet at 11:30am on Tuesday, January 21 in the Adult Center. We will discuss Light Over London by Julia Kelly, a book about World War II England, and the women in anti-aircraft gunner units. Peggy Forster will lead the discussion.
