March 18, 2020
Good morning and peace to you and yours…with constantly changing news and the stressors impacting each of us, I invite you to slow down for a moment.
Take a deep breath.
Look (or go) outside.
Notice signs of spring.
As you navigate the challenges of staying and being near your home, I invite you to consider our primary "dwelling place" -
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Psalm 90:1-2)
A couple of items for you:
1. Session has voted to cancel ALL on-campus programs (church and non-church) through the end of March.
2. Would you like a copy of the April-June These Days - the printed daily devotional provided by Presbyterian Publishing/John Knox Press? We are more than happy to mail a copy to you; just let Emmie know.
3. We are attaching an at-home worship guide to this email. The guide includes a link so you can hear the homily.
While it IS true that we are being asked to practice "social distancing" (which is important), it is just as important that we NOT fall into "social isolating." Please set aside a time every day to call a neighbor or check-in with family and friends.
This is a great time to establish (or re-establish) a note-writing routine; can you write one note per day? If you live in a household of more than one person, could each member write one note per day?
Peace to you and yours,
Some words to consider (written by Peter Scholtes in 1966) - how will you embody these words today?
We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord;
we are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord,
and we pray that all unity may one day be restored:
(Refrain) And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love; yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand;
we will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand,
and together we'll spread the news that God is in our land: (Refrain)
We will work with each other; we will work side by side;
we will work with each other; we will work side by side,
and we'll guard human dignity and save human pride: (Refrain)
