A Christian community is a place for members to share
their faith stories and their prayer concerns - their joys and concerns.
Fellowship provides a setting where a community can build the trust and bonds
the people need to possess before engaging in this kind of sharing. Moreover,
people do share their joys and concerns with each other during times of
fellowship and the end result is nurture and spiritual growth.
Coffee Hour
In between the 9 & 11:00 am services, the
congregation assembles to share fellowship and refreshments in the fellowship
hall. This informal
gathering encourages people to share and support one another.

Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women is a church wide organization open to all women.
Its members are those who choose to participate in or be supportive
of Presbyterian Women in any way. We elect our own leadership,
plan and implement a yearly program, meet in Circles, and maintain
ongoing activities such as Bible study, celebration giving, mission
interpretation, and special ministries to the congregation and community.
We maintain connections with Presbyterian Women throughout our denomination,
as well as support and participate in ecumenical organizations such
as Church Women United.
Presbyterian Women at St.
Giles participate in a number of service projects at both the local and
Presbytery levels. We regularly support several offerings, including the
Thank Offering and May Birthday Offering which are used for various
mission and local proj
ects
determined annually at the national level. Ongoing local service
opportunities include providing a monthly meal for those living at
Emmaus House in Raleigh, providing gifts for patients at Dorothea Dix
Hospital, providing refreshments at a Christmas party for the residents
of the Capital Towers retirement community, and collecting eyeglasses
for recycling in specific missions.
Other
projects are determined by each of the four circles in response to needs
that arise. In the past they have included providing a party for residents
at Dorothea Dix Hospital, sending care packages to college students,
and collecting items needed by residents at Women's Correctional Center,
at Interact, and at Summit House. In addition, members in each circle
regularly keep in touch with women who are confined to their homes.
All
circles meet during the second week of each month from October through
April either in a member's home or at the church.
House
Church
The purpose
of House Church is to "build up the body" - to build a sense of community
and belonging among our adult members and to develop the inner life of
the congregation. We have fellowship over a meal followed by a topical
discussion that provide an opportunity for us to interact and know one
another better. The warmth and joy of being together is to be promoted
at all times. Each House Church group meets once a month at the home of
one of its members. Different groups meet on different nights of the week
to accommodate a variety of schedules. Typically, groups meet from 6:45
to 9:30 pm from September through May.
