The purpose of the Children’s Ministry program is to nurture the children and to educate them about the "Good News" of Jesus Christ. Through the Children's Ministry, the church provides opportunities for our children to learn about Christian community through experience, fulfilling the pledge made by Presbyterian congregations whenever a child is baptized.

The Children's Ministry at St. Giles consists of a nursery for infants, and Christian Education for toddlers and older children.

Nursery

Two nurseries are provided in the Children’s Center on Sunday morning for the children. For the well being of all, children must be fever and infection-free in order to be placed in the nursery. Parents will be contacted to pick up their children who become ill during the time they are in the nursery.

The infant nursery is for children from birth through 24 months: available 8:45am – 11:15 am in the Children’s Center. It is staffed by regular trained sitters who work with member volunteers.

The Toddler nursery is for children 2 - 3 years: available during both worship times in the Children’s Center. It is staffed by member volunteers.

There will be no Christian Education classes during the summer. The schedule will resume on September 12.

Here is some information on what to expect:

Two Christian Education classes are provided for children in the St. Giles Children's Center. These classes are scheduled between the Contemporary Worship service and the Traditional Worship service. Christian Education begins with music at 9:40am and concludes at 10:45am. The following Children's Education classes are held in the Children's Center from 9:45 - 10:30 each Sunday:

Joy Journeys

– For children ages 3 years through Kindergarten

Joy Journeys is a wonderful class that introduces young children to the church year and Bible stories using the Godly Play curriculum. Godly Play uses a careful telling of stories with story figures and engaging activities.  Children have an opportunity to respond to the stories in a variety of ways to encourage their curiosity about God and the world around them.

FAITH T.R.E.K. (Teach, Remember, Experience & Know God’s Love)

- For children in grades 1 – 5

FAITH T.R.E.K. uses a workshop approach to teach Bible stories in ways that encourage children to experience the story through multiple intelligences: linguistic (words), logical (math), spatial (pictures), kinesthetic (movement/touch), musical, inter- & intrapersonal.

Music

Our music program helps children understand and appreciate traditional and modern Christian music. Each week the children participate in music during the Sunday School hour. The children share their talents with the congregation during worship several times a year.
