St. Giles Presbyterian Church
recognizes youth as full members of the Body of Christ, identifying and
recognizing their importance as individuals. We make a commitment to them
through our youth ministry to provide a foundation for Christian discipleship
based on “The Good News” of Jesus Christ.

This ministry will:
 |
Provide a support network by reaching out to youth, giving
them a sense of fellowship and belonging and helping them to recognize that
they are important as individuals. |
 |
Help youth to seek out a set of values for important
decisions that they are now making and will continue to make as they grow into
adulthood. |
 |
Encourage and support their search for self-identity and
the meaning of life. |
 |
Provide an embracing community with adult Christian models
who know and care about the youth as individuals and accept them as brothers
and sisters in God. |
 |
Encourage individual diversity through the life, worship,
and service of the church helping youth to recognize their potential to make a
difference in our world. |
 |
Provide opportunities for study of the Bible, Christian
literature, and events of our world in a searching and supportive environment.
|
 |
Provide a time and place for fun and fellowship with a peer
group of other Christian young people.

Sunday School
The Youth Sunday School classes follow a topical curriculum.
The Middle School class and the Senior High class are each led by a team of 2 -
3 teachers for an entire school year. All classes meet from 9:45 to 10:30 am in the
Youth Center from September through May.

Confirmation
Confirmation class teaches students what it means to be a member
of God’s church and a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). At the end of
the class the students are invited to become confirmed members of St. Giles.
Youth in 8th grade or older are invited to attend confirmation class.

Youth Fellowship
Youth Fellowship at St. Giles provides balanced programming
for youth which includes opportunities for Christian study, service, worship and
fellowship.
 |
Study. Creative programs are provided for youth at St.
Giles to increase their knowledge of the Bible and to help them to understand
the relevance of the Bible and Christian faith to their experiences as young
adults. From time to time programs may involve outside speakers
or worshiping at another church. Whenever possible, the leaders choose topics
that youth have expressed interest in exploring. |
 |
Service. St. Giles youth regularly participate in projects
which offer a service to their families, church, and community. Annual service
projects in recent years have included walking in the Crop Walk, promoting
‘Souper Bowl’ Sunday in January, and participating in the Samaritan’s Purse
Christmas Project. |
 |
Worship. Worship and prayer are integral parts of Youth
Fellowship programs at St. Giles. Young people are also encouraged to be
active in the worship of the church through their participation in the
Handbell Choir and other parts of Sunday worship. Each spring the youth lead
the entire worship service on Youth Sunday. This is one of the congregation’s
favorite worship services! |
 |
Fellowship. A variety of social and recreational activities
are scheduled throughout the year to offer the youth time for fun and
fellowship of others their age. |
Youth Fellowship for Middle School and Senior High youth meets regularly on
Sundays from 6-8 pm throughout the school year.
The Youth meet from time to time during the summer.
