Music is a very important part of worship at St Giles, and we have a tradition of a good music program. It is our goal to offer the best music we can to enhance worship and make it meaningful for the congregation, but above all else we want to present our music as a gift to God in our services. This music should add excitement as we worship as well as reverence. The music director, organist, and pastor work together to make our musical offerings harmonize with the scriptures and sermon of the day and aim to always give God the glory in our services and in our music. The Challenge "How often making music we have found a new dimension in the world of sound………." One of the challenges we will encounter as we enter the 21st century is meeting the musical needs of a new generation of worshipers. It is our hope here at St Giles that while we carry on with tradition that we will be open to trying new types of music that will appeal to these new worshipers. This will be a difficult task, but with prayers and God’s guidance, this will be approached with an open mind and a willingness to make worship meaningful for all generations. The Opportunities " Let every instrument be tuned for praise! Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise…………."The opportunities to participate in the music program at St. Giles are: Adult Choir - This choir is the "main stay" of the music program. They lead the hymn singing and sing an anthem at most 11am worship services throughout the year. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:30 PM. Handbells - The handbell
choir is composed of adults and youth. They participate in the 11am worship several times
a year and rehearse on Sundays at 4:45 PM. Children’s Music - There is a time for music with children each Sunday during Sunday School. They take part in worship occasionally and sing in a special Christmas program. Special Music - Instrumentalists, solo vocalists, and ensembles participate in both worship services as needed. |
