Mission Trip to West Virginia

posted Mar 25, 2013, 11:19 AM by Joan Joslyn   [ updated Mar 25, 2013, 11:20 AM ]

St Giles National Mission Trip will be returning to work with West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps (WVMAW) June 23 through 29. This year we will go to Montgomery, WV, which is a similar area to where we have gone previously to Dry Creek and Colcord. It is a small town environment rather than a rural setting, but the needs are similar. Our focus will be home repair for those who have been affected by storms and/or elderly people who cannot do repairs themselves and cannot afford to hire others to help them.

Information brochures are available at the back of the church. We are looking for participants to go to WV, as well as prayer partners and others who can help in the planning and preparation for the trip.

Please prayerfully consider going with us as we both reach out and minister, but are also ministered to by those we go to help.

Interest forms should be returned by April 14 so that planning can proceed for the trip. For further information please contact Bob Lindsay or Denise Stevenson.

The Ministry Teams of Young Adults and Families and Childrens are sponsoring an All Church Retreat.  Everyone (and we mean everyone!) is invited to spend the weekend of Friday, May 10-Sunday, May 12 at beautiful Camp Albemarle.  This location is perfect for all ages-young and young at heart, for all single people and all families, and for anyone who wants to spend a weekend with the good people of St. Giles. Here’s everything you will want to know about lodging and food.

Lodging Options-

The Lodge has rooms with 6 bunk beds and a bathroom. A family or group of friends can reserve a room for $180 for the weekend. If you’d like to come and not reserve a whole room, the cost is $50 per person to stay in the lodge for the weekend.

Cabins have 8 bunk beds and a bathhouse shared by everyone in the cabins. A family or group of friends can reserve a room for $120 for the weekend. If you’d like to join in the fun without reserving a whole cabin, the cost is $30 per person to stay in a cabin for the weekend.

Food-

Each participant will be asked to bring food to share for Saturday’s breakfast and lunch, Sunday’s breakfast, and snacks. More information about this will be shared in mid-April. Saturday night’s dinner will be catered. The cost for this is $5 per person.

So, you’ve added the retreat to your calendar, what do you do next?

1-Contact Susannah to get your room or cabin reserved.

2-Pay for your lodging plus $5 per person for dinner on Saturday night.

3-Get ready to have a wonderful time!

Invite your friends, family, neighbors to spend a beautiful weekend at Camp Albemarle this May!

2013 Mission Trip

posted Jan 29, 2013, 7:24 AM by Joan Joslyn

We have begun planning for the 2013 Mission Trip this summer within the US, but outside Wake County. Options being considered include returning to West Virginia where we have established a relationship on three previous trips, or we may work on a hurricane restoration project somewhere on the Atlantic coast, within driving distance of Raleigh, either in NC, or further up the Atlantic coast. Additional information will provided in the weeks and months ahead, as we learn more about our options.
Anyone who is interested in participating in the trip, or in the planning, please contact Bob Lindsay or Denise Stevenson.  And/or attend the first planning meeting scheduled for February 17 in the Fellowship Hall between worship services.
